Maren Hanebeck, Owner & Founder

Maren Hanebeck has been around innovative interior design for most of her life. She credits her mom for providing her with the artistic gene she now relies on when creating custom window treatments. “My mom is very creative,” Maren says. “I always thought she could be an interior designer,” Maren says her mother was ahead of her time. For example, as an amateur interior designer, she created seasonal slipcovers and custom window treatments—even before they were trendy. Maren loved the artistry that her mother brought into their home and has also spent a great deal of time sewing, accessorizing and faux painting for herself, friends and family members.

By the mid-1990s, Maren realized that she was bored with her desk job and felt very little creativity. “I thought, ‘why can’t I do what I love?’” She began as a home decorating specialist at Jo-Ann Etc., focusing her expertise on her passion…window treatments. In 1998 (while still working full-time), Maren went back to school. By 2005, she had graduated with honors and an interior design degree from Century College. She created Maren’s Windows by Design in 2002 and in 2007 realigned herself as Draped In Luxury. Draped In Luxury illustrates the complete realization of Maren’s dream to create a personalized, custom window design firm that caters to high-end homes. Maren is a member of the Window Fashions Certification Program (WFCP) and Business Network Intl (BNI). Her work has been recognized internationally in SewWhat? magazine. Locally, she has designed window treatments for a luxury model home that was featured in the Parade of Homes.
